This morning we had a great visit at Fastenal with Jason Knutson, District Manager for Southeastern, MN, along with Jake Litzau and Forrest Lewis. Jason shared about how he started with the company and continued to grow over time as the company grew. They shared all about the company history and the unique way the company grew through vending machines in businesses allowing quick access for workers to the supplies necessary to complete their job. Students also learned about their onsite model and the ebusiness that supports the work they do with companies. Some thoughts that stood out were that their company is not cost driven, but customer service driven. They don’t sell parts, they sell solutions. Finally, they offer a school of business to their employees to help them grow from within. They gave lots of great advice and students asked wonderful questions!
